Gina used classic professional equipment (like linear Beta decks) and participated in live news casts. But she quickly discovered that her real passion was editing with Apple's Final Cut Pro. Gina was also chosen to participate in, SkillsUSA, an organization serving more than 307,000 high school and college students and professional members enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations, and had the honor to be involved with regional, state and national competitions. At graduation, she received a scholarship for the Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts digital filmmaking program.
Though she had a difficult time choosing between campus's in Waltham, MA and Washington D.C., Gina finally decided to begin her journey here in Massachusetts. At CDIA, she had the opportunity to work with HD equipment, highly experienced teachers from the motion picture industry, and she was privileged to work with clients in the non-profit sector. In July 2011 she received her certificate from BU CDIA and soon after joined the CRG crew.
Now, Gina works as a production assistant and editor, working with Adobe After Effects and other edit projects. She is very enthusiastic to keep learning more with her craft and working to develop her own style of video editing.
"I never really knew that it was possible to be an artist in the modern world. I never figured you could do that. Forget being the best of anything, that's the fruit of the action. You do the work they say, for the doing, not the fruit. You can never really know how it's going to turn out in the world, but you know if you enjoy doing it. Ideas start flowing and you start getting excited about stuff. Then you're having a great time in the doing, and that's what it's all about. If you don't enjoy the doing, then do something else."
