Ahh, Compliance. You know, those rules set down by your company’s higher-ups that you are required to follow… lest you incur the rath of all ages. Compliance guidelines can range from a simple logo style guide to a big fat book of everything in the whole wide world that you can and cannot do.

Either way, you have three choices when it comes to living with compliance:

1. You can ignore it.

It’s the, “Oh, they’ll never catch me,” mentality. And believe me, I don’t recommend it. Once you’re caught, you’re usually caught big time, and you’ll find yourself stuck under the nose of the compliance police until they think you’ve learned your lesson.

Yes, you can monitor all your advertising, your website, your printed materials, and more – all on your own! You and your staff can spend countless hours with your style guide or compliance handbook, memorizing every detail. Then, you can plan to devote a large amount of time every month to proper compliance. You’ll work closely with your vendors, review all materials, submit them for compliance pre-approval, make changes to and re-submit denied materials, and anxiously coordinate media schedules as you await pre-approvals and/or changes from your vendors.

Wow. It’s a lot to do, isn’t it? I know. I’ve been there. Which brings us to door number three:
